Many business owners do not track income or sales. Some have never even thought about it. I call this condition “terminal vagueness” about money. It creates a constant state of anxiety because you never have clarity about how you are doing in your business.
The simplest thing you can do to increase sales, is to have direct personal conversations with potential clients. One-on-one conversations are where things start to happen. It is the simplest action you can take, right now, to increase sales.
How many times per week are you personally inviting someone to have a conversation with you? How many offers are you making per week? The formula for making more income is simple: it’s the “number of offers” + the “amount of the sale”. If you want to make more money all it takes is to make more offers for higher amounts of money!
Rather than worrying about “I need more sales”, shift your mindset to “who can I talk to today”. Focus your attention on tracking the number of people you are “reaching out to” each week. Then, you can expand to tracking how many conversations you are having. I call them “Conversations for Possibility”. Everything comes down to how many conversations you have. Tracking those 2 actions: “Direct Reach Outs” and “Conversations for Possibility” and you will start attracting more money immediately.
What is a “Direct Reach Out”? It is one-to-one private text message, a personal phone call, or a personal email or InMail inviting them to an easy “YES” offer, (not a newsletter or a group email). Offer a free consultation and invite them personally to take advantage of it, or ask them to attend your upcoming workshop or speaking engagement.
What is “Terminal Vagueness”?
Not tracking income generating activities leads to “terminal vagueness”. You feel can busy and even overwhelmed, but you can’t understand why you aren’t attracting clients. It is a vicious cycle. Tracking is magic. It’s black and white. Either you have done something or you haven’t. It focuses your efforts and leads to quick wins that will motivate you to continue.
Busy-ness is not your business. Start tracking your “Reach Outs” and “Conversations for Possibility” to insure you are busy doing the right things to attract more sales. Set a goal to have 10 specific business conversations this week.
Whatever we place our attention on, expands. Tracking is focused attention. So, what you track expands. Track everything and watch your sales grow like magic. Try it for a month, set your goals high, and let me know your results.
