As a woman entrepreneur, getting new clients is the only thing that keeps us in business. Our ideal goal is to have a steady stream of new potential clients flowing in every week, so that you are never worried about your income level dropping off the cliff. Keeping your income flowing keeps you feeling stable and grounded so you can keep planning for the future, and expand your business when you want to.
How do we do that? By attracting a bunch of new potential clients by taking advantage of some opportunities that are already present, and don’t cost you any money.
Here are a few of my favorite tips on how to quickly sign up new clients, as many as 5 in the next month.
My strong suggestion is to stay open-minded when you read these tips. Being willing to try something even if it didn’t work in the past or “it’s not how I do things”…that is the sign of a courage woman entrepreneur.
Tip #1: Offer A New Service To An Existing Client
Even if you have clients who are currently enrolled in a program, they might still be interested in something else if you would only ask! Your existing clients sometimes don’t know what else you are offering or they are waiting to be invited. Try it! All they can say is “No, thanks!”
Tip #2: Ask Your Clients For A Referral
It is easy to think that your clients would refer people if they had them. But what if you made it easy for them by drafting a short email they can send? The email is an invitation to the reader to a Free Strategy Session with you. Then ask your clients to send it to 5 people they know would be a great fit for working with you.
Tip #3: Connect With Past Leads
If you have been offering free strategy sessions to people regularly in the past 6 months, and you have not closed all of them, I bet there is at least one new client there for you. You can reach out to them, using this script:
“Hi, this is __________. You came up in my thoughts, and I wanted to check in with you and see how ___________ is going for you. Have you achieved those things you talked about? And if not, are you open to having a conversation about how I can help you? Give me a call at ________________.”
Tip #4: Offer a Re-Do To a Past Discovery Session “No”
If you heard “no” from someone, yet you know they are your ideal client, you can easily reach out to them again with a “Re-D0”. Use the same script above, letting them know they’ve been on your mind.
Tip #5: Host An Event
Create a juicy title for a 90-minute talk and find a client or friend to host you. Spending a couple of hours with you in person is the best way to get people inspired about how your particular skill and how you can help them solve a specific problem. Ask each of your guests to bring a friend or colleague with similar issues and you’ll quickly have a room full of potential clients.
Tip #6: Reach Out To Past Clients
When have you last touched base with some of your past clients, maybe some you have not talked to a a year or more? What if you make a call, and found out who they are doing? You can then invite them to your next free event or talk, or tele-class.
Tip #7: Attend a New Networking Event
People need to see and get to know you. Attend a few local events or networking meetings with the intention of offering a Free Strategy Session. Make it a goal to meet and connect deeply with at least 3 people at each event.
