Talking to some of my clients this week I realized that there are many marketing mentors out there who are offering some great advice, but it is not always appropriate for people at the early stages of ramping up their business.
Just yesterday, Sandy, one of my clients, was worried about crafting her signature system and getting her webinars launched. There was only one problem – her income is less that $1000.00 per month!
Listening to “free” teleseminars can be a form of distraction and confusion that costs people a ton of money and energy, and is just making them spin their wheels. What they really need is to get a client. One person I talked to was spending almost 40 hours a week participating in free marketing teleclasses. Need I say more?
The fastest way to uplevel your business and create fast income is enrolling private clients.
Here are 7 steps that I put together as a simple system that will enable you to enroll one client a week. This is my formula for getting out of overwhelm and getting income in fast.
Step 1 – Create a monthly income goal and determine how many new clients you need to meet it.
This should be a stretch for you but still doable. Then break down the goal into how many new clients you will need to meet that income goal. Do you need 5 new clients? 2 new clients?
Step 2 – Focus on one simple marketing activity: booking free strategy sessions with potential clients.
Once you know the number of clients you need, then multiply that by 4. That is the number of complimentary strategy sessions you need to give per month in order to safely make your client and income goal.
Step 3 – Make a specific weekly goal for the number of complimentary strategy sessions you want to schedule.
Now that you know how many sessions you need to give in the month, divide that by 4 and that is the number of sessions you want to schedule per week. You should have space allocated in your calendar for those sessions so when you book them you already have the time reserved.
Step 4 – Schedule 2 to 3 networking events per week.
How will you find the people to offer your sessions to? Find 2-3 networking events that your ideal clients may frequent. Meetups, female entrepreneurs networking groups, BNI, Chamber mixers, are all great places to meet clients who need your services.
Step 5 – Set your intention to meet at least three new people at each networking event.
Hot Tip: focus on meeting the new people, especially if you are a member of that organization. At one time over 40% of my clients came from introducing myself to the new members of the Chamber and offering them a free business strategy session. This is so easy and almost no one does this. Try it.
Step 6 – Follow up within 24 hours.
Send an email making your offer for a complimentary strategy session, and give them three specific times you can talk to them. If you actually get back to people within 24 hours you will stand out in their mind as no one does this either. Hot Tip: Take their picture (with you) at the event and send it to them with your email.
Step 7 – Schedule 3 – 5 complimentary strategy sessions per week.
My strong recommendation is that you set up at least 3-5 complimentary strategy sessions every week. If you convert at least 25%, then one of them will be your next client!
